Time to Get those posters up!!

Hey Theatre VCU students - come to the office ASAP and pick up your 15 posters to hang around the VCU campus and Richmond community.

The earlier YOU come and get your posters the better the gig.

Wouldn't you rather walk over to the Pollak building and hang 8 posters, and wander over to Monument Ave and hang the remaining 7  in about 15 minutes... instead of waiting and getting the Southside poster hanging assignment?

Come early and often to the Theatre office and get YOUR Shakespeare's R&J posters - and help us wake up Richmond to these beautiful productions!

Waking the Sleeping Beast

First Day of School 2011: Summer Successes. International Festivals. First Year Challenges. Mainstage Excitement.

and the Theatre VCU Blog is waking up.

First Years - Tomorrow is your First Year Acting Audition -  Be at the Hodges at 6:30, take a deep breath, and do what you do best at 7:00. BAM
Everyone else - be at Hodges at 7:00 and support our newest class of Performance Majors.

This was a big summer for Theatre VCU

Student Voices was a huge success - entertained and educated the university's incoming first students and their parents. The students left the production looking confident, the parents usually left looking wild-eyed. It was clear the ride home was going to be interesting for those families.
- Thank you Barry Bell and a hugely talented cast for a great run.

Speaking of talent!
What a great Summer Intensive!
Twelve fabulous, energetic, and engaged high school students from all over Virginia were here for three weeks working from dawn to dusk in Acting for the Camera with Barry Bell, Musical Theatre with Patti D'Beck and Fight Choreography with Kevin Inouye. What a great three weeks! And when they "Strutted Their Stuff" it was clear that Theatre VCU owned the Sonia Vlahcevic stage!

The cast and director (Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates) have just leaped into the new school year after returning from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they performed uncle tom: deconstructed to raves and several 5-star reviews.

VCU News Center has this to say about the experience.

Congratulations to EVERYONE who contributed to this international triumph!!

Take a look over your shoulder...
Yes.
That's our first Main stage production barreling down on all of us - and it is incredibly exciting!

Shakespeare's R & J
two casts, two guest directors. But let's save that for the next blog...
