Richmond Shakes' King Lear features Theatre VCU students past and present

Richmond Shakespeare's King Lear is playing at Agecroft until July 3rd and the reviews have been outstanding!

Below, in green, are our students (past) and in blue (present) who are involved.

Student voices 2011 opens today!

Student Voices is opening it's 7 week run - starting today at 4:00 pm in the Raymond Hodges Theatre.

Student Voices was written by students for students about the pitfalls and joys of the first year of college life. Theatre VCU actors depict a gamut of real-life situations from FaceBook stalking, the perils of credit card binging, to the joy of supportive friends and room-mates.

Developed & Directed by Associate Professor Barry Bell
The Theatre VCU cast includes:

and is teched by Rebecca Brooks.

The performances are: June 13, 14, 15 • 20, 21, 22 • 27, 28, 29 and July 6,7 • 12, 13 • 18, 19, 20 21 at 5:00 - 5:45 for the parents and 6:00 - 6:45 for the students.

Student Voices will be standing room only and this Bloginator can report first-hand that it is an eye-opening production for most of the parents, and very educational (though they may not admit it) for all of the students.

Break a leg Student Voices cast - and never forget how important this production is for everyone in the audience!

Our First Theatre VCU Alumni Event Outreach - Mark your calendar for April 21, 2012

Attention ALL Theatre VCU Alumni -

 Theatre VCU is creating an Alumni Reunion to be held on April 21st 2012.

 Highlights of the day will include:

 • Renewing old friendships, socializing and networking with fellow Theatre VCU alumni from around the country.

 • A Welcome Breakfast hosted by Liz and Gary Hopper

 • Symposium for alumni to share their experience and hard-won knowledge with other alums and current students in the following areas:

        - Acting

        - Set Design

        - Costume Design

        - Lighting Design

        - Stage Management

        - Directing and Producing

 • Guided tours of updates to the campus and department.

 • An evening banquet in the VCU Ballroom.

 • A special performance of the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee directed by Gary C. Hopper.

 • An evening reception and entertainment following the performance.
